This verse by verse teaching on Genesis chapters 46-47 was given by pastor Barry Forder and was recorded at our family service on 14th January 2018.
These chapters see Jacob move the family down to Egypt to escape the famine in the land of Canaan. It had been in a time of famine that Abraham had gone down to Egypt many years before – a move that ended up costing him dearly. God had specifically warned Isaac not to go down to Egypt, so it is no surprise to find Jacob somewhat apprehensive at the prospect of leaving the land he had been promised. However, God assures Jacob that He will be with him and that in Egypt his family will become a nation.
God sometimes allows us to go through situations that seem a million miles away from His promises for us, but God is always faithful and knows the plans He has for us, to bless us and prosper us if we walk in obedience with Him. Faith is trusting God in the trying circumstances, holding on to His promise that all things work together for good for those who love Him.

We hope and pray this teaching will bless you and encourage you to undertake your own personal study and adventure in God’s Word!
