This teaching on 2 Peter 1:16-18 was given by Pastor Barry Forder at Calvary Chapel Portsmouth’s on-line service on 11th October 2020.
Verse 16 is a powerful rebuttal to all those who would claim the Bible is a myth or just made-up stories; for here we have an eyewitness testifying to the truthfulness of the Biblical record. He was there, he saw these things with his own eyes. This is not some second-hand account or here-say.
In this study we look at just some of the compelling evidence that shows the Biblical record is not a work of fiction full of historical inaccuracies as those who have never bothered to study claim. The historical accuracy of the Bible has been vindicated time and again.
But that then leads to the big question. What are you going to do with it?
If the Bible really is true, if it is the Word of God to His creation, it demands a response.
In these verses Peter alludes to an experience he had atop a mountain in Israel – an experience that would change the course of his life; for a few days later he was faced with the most important question of all time – not just to Peter to but to us all – Jesus asked: “Who do you say I am?”
Your answer to that question will determine your eternal destiny and how you live your life now.
May you be blessed and encouraged by this study.
