This teaching on 1 Peter 4:1-16 was given by pastor Barry Forder at Calvary Portsmouth n the 23rd August 2020.
In this study we see Peter build on the admonitions he had given to submit and be willing to suffer for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Peter has already pointed out that Jesus was willing to submit to His Father for the sake of the Father’s will and we should do likewise.
In chapter 4 Peter is gentle but firm in telling his hearers that time is up for playing around with the things of the old life. The LORD is coming for us and we need not only to be ready, but living each moment for His glory so as many as might hear the Gospel can be saved.
There can be no compromise with sin, for it is an insidious enemy that seeks to harm us and keep us away from real fellowship with Jesus. The battleground is our mind, and it is here the battle is either lost or won. Christ will give us the victory if we go to Him. We cannot fight this alone.
Peter then reminds us that we have each been given spiritual gifts that should be used for the edification of the body. None of us should make excuses as to why we don’t feel able! They are His gifts to us and He will work through us if we simply step out in faith.
May you be blessed and encouraged by this study.
