Hebrews – Chapter 3

This teaching on Hebrews chapter 3 was given by pastor Barry Forder on the 2nd February 2020 as part of our family service.

In chapter 3, the writer to the Hebrews, having shown that Jesus is better than Angels and the Law, now demonstrates that Jesus is even better than Moses.

But having made that point, the writer then urges his hearers to ‘take heed’ lest they fail to inherit all that God has for them, just as the generation that came out of Egypt with Moses failed to enter their promised inheritance. They were all ‘saved’ (delivered from Egypt), but they fell short of receiving all that God had for them because of a lack of trust! They had seen God do incredible miracles, yet when faced with the prospect of entering Canaan they started to recon with the natural, considering their own strength (or lack thereof) and did not trust God.

The writer goes as far as telling us that sin is defined as disobedience – or put simply, failing to trust God!

This is the second warning the writer to the Hebrews gives (after the warning of drifting given in chapter 2).

May you be blessed, challenged and encouraged by this study.
